The Old world flycatchers are large but also small group of passerine birds divided into the typical old-world flycatchers and the African flycatchers. These birds range from about 3 to 9 inches long and they are medium sized. They have colors varying from black, brown to white and blue with some red at times. The males are females all have the same colors. The males usually are brighter than the females just like in other bird species.

The birds get their food mostly insets by moving in complex maneuvers. They have small feet and short legs. Uganda has about 59 species of this bird family out of the 274 in the entire world.
