Day 1: Arrival

Upon arrival, meet and greet our company representative and transfer to your booked hotel for briefing about your 14 days bird watching safari in Kenya, relax and get ready for an exciting birding adventure the following day. On this day, you may start spotting some bird species just at your lodge. Dinner and overnight stay at Anga Afrika.

Day 2: Nairobi – Lake Naivasha- Boat ride

Have breakfast and drive to Lake Naivasha for a birding tour. Lake Naivasha is the second largest fresh water in Kenya with lots of wildlife and birdlife. You will arrive on time, check in at your booked lodge, have lunch before going to Lake Naivasha to look for birds like; Fulvous Whistling-Duck, Red-knobbed Coot, White-backed Duck, Laughing Dove, Egyptian Goose, Garganey, Hottentot Teal, Northern Shoveler, Yellow-billed Duck, Red-billed Duck, Red-eyed Dove, Emerald-spotted Wood-Dove, Black Crake, Ring-necked Dove, Namaqua Dove, Eurasian Moorhen, African Swamphen, Striped Crake among others.  You will also take a boat ride around the lake to spot more water birds and aquatic wild animals. Dinner and overnight stay at Lake Naivasha Sopa Resort.

Day 3: Full day birding Lake Naivasha

After breakfast, start a full day birding trip at lake Naivasha in search for a number of birds such as; Cape Teal, Pied Avocet, Great White Pelican, Black Heron, Goliath Heron, Common Greenshank, Maccoa Duck, Wahlberg’s Eagle, Booted Eagle, Steppe Eagle, Imperial Eagle, Ruff, Hilderbrandt’s Francolin,Green Sandpiper, Verreaux’s Eagle, Arrow-marked Babbler, Grey Crowned Crane, African Fish Eagle, Madagascar Bee-eater, European Bee-eater, Northern Carmine Bee-eater, Tawny Eagle, Osprey, Hybrid Lovebird, Buff-bellied Warbler, Red-throated Wryneck, Black Cuckoo, African Hoopoe, Malachite Kingfisher among others. You may meet some wildlife like Grant’s gazelle, impala, red and hippos. Retire and drive back to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay at Lake Naivasha Sopa Resort.

Day 4: Lake Naivasha – Bird Lake Nakuru national park

Have breakfast and drive to another exciting birding destination in Kenya. Lake Nakuru national park is very famous watching Flamingos and large flocks of pelicans. You will arrive on time to your booked lodge, check in, have lunch and drive to park to look out for different bird species in several vegetation zones covered with Euphorbia, tall cactus like trees and acacia woodland. Lake Nakuru forest region is a home to over 400 migratory bird species from around the world. Look out for birds like; Abyssinian thrush, Arrow-marked babbler, Bateleur, Great snipe, Black-tailed godwit, Black-winged lapwing, Lappet-faced vulture, Brimstone canary, Brown-backed scrub robin, Crab-plover, Eastern imperial eagle, European roller, Hildebrandt’s starling, Grey crowned crane, Grey-headed woodpecker, Greater spotted eagle, Grey-crested helmet-shrike, Kenya rufous sparrow, Lesser flamingo among others. Besides birds, the park also hosts the endangered black and white rhino and 4 of the big 5 apart from the African elephant. Dinner and overnight at Lake Nakuru Lodge

Day 5: Full Day Birding and Game Drive in Lake Nakuru national park

After breakfast head to the park for full day bird watching and game drive safari in such for the special birds of this soda lake such as Lesser Flamingos, Greater Flamingos, Lesser Flamingo, Great White Pelican, Pallid Harrier, Greater Spotted Eagle, Black-winged Stilt, Grey-crested Helmet-shrike, Black-necked Grebe, Little Grebe, Yellow-billed Stork, Madagascar Pond-Heron, African Spoonbill, Grey-headed Gull and Gull-billed Tern among others. You will also encounter several animals like; Giraffe, White Rhino, Buffalo, Zebra, Hippo, Black Rhino, Lion, Leopard, Wild Dog, Wildebeest, Cheetah, Hyena among others. Return back to the hotel for dinner and overnight stay at Lake Nakuru Lodge.

Day 6: Lake Nakuru – Bird Ol pejeta Conservancy

Have breakfast, check out from your lodge and drive north of the equator to Ol Pejeta Conservancy which is a home to the late last male northern white rhino that passed on in 2018 and currently the home to the last two female northern white rhinos.  You will arrive later in the mid-day, check in, have lunch and go birding Ol Pejeta Conservancy in search for birds like; Abyssinian scimitarbill, Yellow-necked spurfowl, Amethyst sunbird, Black-winged lapwing, Blue-naped mousebird, Cinnamon-chested bee-eater, White-bellied go-away bird, D’Arnaud’s barbet, Kenya rufous sparrow, Taita fiscal, Long-billed pipit, Montagu’s harrier, Nubian woodpecker, Rosy-throated longclaw, Rufous chatterer, Temminck’s courser, White-eyed slaty flycatcher, Buff-crested bustard among others. You will also meet some wildlife like Elephant, Giraffe, Buffalo, Zebra, Hyena, Black Rhino, White Rhino among others. Dinner and overnight at Sweetwaters Serena Camp

Day 7: Full Game Drive & Birding in Ol pejeta Conservancy

Have breakfast and head for a guided morning nature walk in search for birds on foot with an armed ranger. On this day, don’t forget to carry your camera and binocular to capture the moment and see the birds at closer range. Ol Pejeta Conservancy hosts over 300 bird species which include the migrant species, resident species, accidental species, endangered species and nearly endangered species. After a thrilling moment into nature on foot return to the lodge for breakfast and relax. Take lunch and later in the evening go for a game drive to enjoy watching a diverse of wildlife and birdlife. Dinner and overnight at Sweetwaters Serena Camp

Day 8: Ol pejeta Conservancy – Samburu Game Reserve

Have breakfast and transfer to Samburu game reserve to spot several birds and wildlife. You will also enjoy an exciting road trip to the north, arriving on time for lunch. Later in the evening, continue to the game reserve to look for birds and animals including the reticulated giraffe, Grevy’s zebra, long-necked gerenuk, Somali ostrich, Beisa oryx among others. Dinner and overnight at Samburu Simba Lodge

Day 9: Full day bird watching in Samburu Game Reserve

Have breakfast and later drive into open savannahs, scrub desert and verdant vegetation for bird watching and game drive adventure. Look out for the following birds in Samburu game reserve; Acacia tit, African palm swift, Rosy-patched bush-shrike, Vulturine guineafowl, Ashy cisticola, Pygmy batis, Black-bellied sunbird, Black-capped social weaver, Reichenow’s seedeater, Brown-tailed rock chat, Chestnut-headed sparrow lark, Chestnut weaver, Donaldson-Smith’s sparrow-weaver, Lanner falcon, Yellow-vented eremomela, Fischer’s starling, Bare-eyed thrush, Golden pipit, Golden-breasted starling, Greater kestrel, Somali bee-eater, Somali ostrich, Grey wren-warbler, Hunter’s sunbird, Mariqua sunbird, Northern brownbul, Palm-nut vulture, Pink-breasted lark, Red-bellied parrot, Red-necked falcon, Red-winged lark, Secretary bird, Singing bush lark, Spotted palm-thrush, Von der Decken’s hornbill, White-headed mousebird among others. You will also see several wildlife such as Grevy Zebra, Reticulated Giraffe, Somali Ostrich, Gerenuk and the Beisa Oryx, hundreds of elephants on this day. Dinner and overnight stay at Samburu Simba Lodge.

Day 10: Transfer from Samburu to Meru National Park

Have breakfast and later transfer to Meru National Park for bird watching safari. The Meru national park is a home to over 300 species making it one of the excellent birding destinations in Kenya with several northern Kenya specials, including the impressive the Boran cisticola, Somali ostrich, and vulturine guineafowl. The noisy yellow-necked spurfowl is also common and the sought-after Hinde’s babbler normally spotted. The rivers running through Meru offer the right habitat for Pel’s fishing-owl, African finfoot and the localized golden palm weaver.  You will arrive on time for lunch and rest the whole day as you prepare for birding and game drive the following day. Dinner and overnight at Ikweta Safari Camp

Day 11: Birding & Game Drive in Meru National Park

After breakfast drive to Meru national park to look out for birds like; African finfoot, Bat hawk, Black-faced sandgrouse, Buff-crested bustard, Golden palm weaver, Golden-breasted starling, Grant’s wood-hoopoe, Vulturine guineafowl, Hinde’s pied babbler, Saddle-billed stork, Martial eagle, Northern pied babbler, Boran cisticola, Palm-nut vulture, Pel’s fishing-owl, Rufous chatterer, Somali bee-eater, Somali ostrich, Taita fiscal, Yellow-necked spurfowl among others. You will also encounter a number of wildlife including the Elephant, Giraffe, Hippo, Buffalo, Zebra, Wildebeest, white or black rhino, Hippos and Nile crocodiles. Dinner and overnight at Ikweta Safari Camp.

Day 12: Meru National Park – Transfer Nanyuki

Walk up early morning, have breakfast and go for another morning game drive for more bird watching experience in the park. Drive to Nanyuki to check in your booked hotel, have lunch and spend the entire evening relaxing with an optional tour of visiting local shops to get some gifts in Nanyuki town. Dinner and overnight at Peaks Hotel Nanyuki.

Day 13: Nanyuki – Mount Kenya National Park

After an early morning breakfast, set off for Mount Kenya National Park for yet another thrilling birding experience. Mount Kenya national park is very famous for mountain hiking adventures however, it is a home to over 130 bird species including the Violet-backed Starling, Green Pigeon & Meyer’s Parrot among other birds. The beauty with this destination is that you will enjoy an exciting altitude bird watching on foot and being immersed in one of Africa’s most unique environments with a wide array of unique bird species to be encountered as you hike along. After return to your hotel to relax and enjoy the rest of the evening. Dinner and overnight at Peaks Hotel Nanyuki

Day 14: Nanyuki – Transfer to Nairobi

Have breakfast and drive back to Nairobi with a visit to Giraffe centre or Karen Blixen museum before ending your 14 Days Bird Watching Safari Kenya.
