2 Day Nyiragongo Volcano Hike

2 Day Nyiragongo Volcano hike is a standalone Nyiragongo trek; where guests might stay in Gisenyi for an overnight stay before crossing the Grande Barriere border at exactly 7:00 am. After clearing with the immigration office, you will check-in at Virunga tourism office by 8:00 am for a morning scheduled trek. Please note that the tourism office is conveniently located in the Grande Barriere border post building, opposite passport control office.

Day 1: Trek the Nyiragongo Volcano

Meet and greet our company representative for a quick briefing and transfer to Grade barrier border to check-in at Virunga tourism office and secure your volcano trek permit which is always presented before hiking experiences.

After getting all the necessary documents, you will be transferred to Kitabi Ranger Post to start a memorable trek Nyiragongo volcano. The hike to the summit of Nyiragongo starts at 10:00 am with most climbing groups reaching the top by 5:00 pm. Climbers spend a night on the crater before starting the descent back to Kibati around 6:00 am the following morning. Besides exploring the summit, you will enjoy magnificent views of Virunga forest, Mt Rwenzori, Lake Kivu, other Virunga volcanoes and Goma city.

Day 2: Descend from the summit of Nyiragongo Volcano

Wake up in the morning, have breakfast and descend to the base of mount Nyiragongo. You will be transferred to the boarder and catch up with your driver guide for a transfer to Kigali international airport to end your 2 Day Nyiragongo Volcano hike with lots of experiences. For your information, this package is inclusive of Volcano trek permit, transport to and from Kibati Ranger Post, one-night stay on Nyiragongo summit but exclusive of Nyiragongo backpack, porter fees, gratuities and anything of a personal nature.
