Day 1: Transfer to Nyungwe Forest National Park – Birding in the afternoon

Meet your birding guide for a quick briefing and later embark on 268 km from Kigali business center to the park. This journey takes approximately 6hours however; you will dry through interesting traditional homesteads, ask for stopovers to take some nice photos and also stretching your legs. On this day, you will have an optional visit either to Nyanza palace which is a home to last great cultural leaders ie Musinga and Rudahigwa or at the Ethnographic Museum in Butare.

You will arrive in Nyungwe forest national park on time for lunch and later head to the forest for an afternoon birding trip to look for birds like Red-faced woodland warbler, Mountain masked apalis, Grauer’s swamp warbler, Ruwenzori apalis, Shelley’s crimsonwing among others. Day 3: Chimpanzee trekking & transfer to Kigali

After breakfast, head to the park headquarters for chimpanzee trekking experiences. During your tour, look out for some bird species that you must have missed in the previous days. The chimp safari in Nyungwe forest national park takes about 2 – 5 hours, after encountering these primates, spend a full hour with them, see them play, swing over the tree branches, take as many photos are possible.
