Day 1: Arrival and transfer to volcanoes national park

Based on your location, on the first day of your 3 days gorilla safari Rwanda and Mount Bisoke hiking our English-speaking safari driver guide will pick you up from your hotel pr at the airport, greet you, and then brief you about the whole safari. Once the meet, greet, and briefing is done you will have a simple small Kigali city tour where you will visit places Kirimonko market, Inema Art Centre, and Kigali genocide memorial.

After the Kigali city tour, you will have lunch and then embark on your journey to volcanoes national park which will take 2-3 hours driving with beautiful views of the surroundings, rolling hills, local people, and plantations. Upon arrival at volcanoes national park, you will check in your lodge, prepare for hiking the next day and then have dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 2: Hiking Mount Bisoke

On the second day of your 3 days gorilla safari Rwanda and Mount Bisoke hiking, you will have a morning breakfast after which head to the briefing point. At the briefing point, you will meet other hikers and together you will be briefed about the whole hiking, what to expect and how to successfully make it to the summit.

After the briefing, you will be allocated ranger guides who will lead you throughout the hike, tell you different information while hiking to the summit. You will pick a walking stick to help you balance and them start on your 4 hours hiking journey to the summit.

While hiking to the top of the volcano, you will meet different forest animals such as elephants, buffaloes, duikers, monkeys, olive baboons, and different bird species. if you are lucky enough you might find the mountain gorillas though you will not be allowed to be around them. As soon as you reach the summit of Mount Bisoke, you will have spectacular views of the crater lake, mountain Rwenzori, some of the Virunga volcanoes, the national park, and you will be able to take photos. You will then have lunch and then descent back to the starting point where you will meet your driver for a transfer back to the lodge for relaxation, dinner, and an overnight stay.

Day 3: Mountain gorilla trekking experience – Transfer to Kigali

On the last day of your safari, you will wake up for an early morning breakfast at your hotel after which your driver-guide will transfer you to the briefing point where you will make other trekking to listen to the rules and regulations of the gorilla trekking activity in the park. After the briefing, you will be allowed the ranger guides, mountain gorilla family to trek, and in case you need a porter you can hire one at a fee.

The trekking activity in volcanoes national park takes about 2 hours to 7 hours depending on the location and movement of mountain gorillas because they do move to look for what to eat. While looking for the primates, you will meet different park animals like hyenas, duikers, giant forest hogs, elephants, several primates, birds, and much more.

Once you meet the mountain gorillas, you will be able to spend 1 hour with them in their natural habits as you watch them do daily activities, learn about their habits, and take photos. After 1 hour with the gentle peaceful apes, you will trek out of the forest meet your driver guide who will transfer you back to the lodge for lunch and after that, you will start on your journey back to Kigali city where you will be dropped off at your hotel or the airport to end your 3 days gorilla safari Rwanda and Mount Bisoke hiking
