Virunga national park in the Democratic Republic of Congo is the oldest national park in Africa that was gazetted in 1925. The park forms part of the Congo basin forests and ranked as the second largest tropical rain forest after the great Amazon.

During your 3 days gorilla trekking tour in Virunga national park, you will meet the endangered mountain gorillas that possess 98% Human DNA and almost similar body structure as humans. Day 1: Transfer to Virunga national park

Meet and greet your company representative either from Kigali international airport or your hotel for a briefing and transfer to Bukima in DR Congo via Gisenyi and Goma. The journey from Kigali to Goma takes 4 hours by road. You will have a stopover for lunch before clearing with immigration authorities in DR Congo. Later drive straight to Bukima where you will have your dinner and overnight.

Day 2: Virunga gorilla tracking and Community Walk.

Have an early morning breakfast and head to the park headquarters for briefing about the dos and don’ts of Virunga gorilla trekking tour and gorilla family allocations. Later start your trail into the deep jungles of the forest with the help of a professional ranger in search for mountain gorillas in their natural habitat. Trackers are always recommended to be fit as the activity takes 2-6hrs of tracking depending on the movement of the gorillas. Upon meeting the gentle primates of the forest, you will be allowed to spend one hour with them; observe how the live with the group members, play and swing in the forest. Later return to the starting point and drive back to the lodge for lunch, relax and later go for a community tour and also visit Senkwekwe gorilla orphanage in Mikeno sector.
