The Karamojong are known to be warriors, stubborn, and very violent people. The group of people still live and practice the ancient way of life. They are nomadic pastoralists and live in the remote areas of Northeastern Uganda bordering Kenya and southern Sudan.
During your 4 Days Karamoja Cultural Tour In Uganda, you will visit the Karamojong Manyatta. The Manyatta are the traditional villages/ homesteads where the Karamojong live in. Therefore, a visit to the local community of the Karamojong will introduce you to experience the authentic African culture, the traditional way of life, and also the rich history of the Karamojong.
The Karamojong are primitive group of people who have refused to adapt to the new civilization even after the colonists. They still practice their traditions and showcase their traditional dances, performed by the ladies, singing and dancing around the built fire.
Karamoja area is a semi-desert area, therefore, therefore expect to experience a bit of high temperatures, therefore, we recommend planning your trip accordingly. Carry sun scream block and insect repellent to prevent you from the insect bites, wear light clothes since this area is a desert, and also put on thick pants preferably jean trousers to avoid getting scratches from the thorns surrounding the Manyatta.
Meet your guide for a quick briefing and drive to Moroto via Sipi for a hike and coffee tour. During a coffee tour in Sipi falls, expect to hike through the local villages and this will take you to a local coffee farmer who will take you through the process of growing coffee right from the planting of the coffee from the nursery beds, into the coffee trees and harvesting.
You will learn the time frame of coffee maturing, harvesting, and drying the coffee beans. Then, you will locally grind the coffee using the local mortars; pound away to the rhythm of the African beat as you pound the coffee beans into a fine powder. You will then sieve the coffee and be able to brew your own cup of coffee. If you want it strong, you will be able to make it yourself.

After breakfast, visit the Karamojong village to explore the Karamojong culture in activities like traditional games, daily activities such as preparing staple foods, dance, harvesting, beading, how to shoot bow & arrow, and traditional friendly wrestling.
Later in the day, you will experience the typical Karimojong pastoral life by sleeping a night with the animals and shepherds in the Kraal. You may help them to bring the cows to the kraal, share stories around the campfire, play games with the warriors as well as learn the lifestyle of the nomads

Have breakfast and go for a visit to the traditional Karamoja Manyatta. A Karamojong village is also known as “Manyatta” or “Ere” which means an enclosed residential area, surrounded by sharp thorns and with small entry points for people and a larger entry point for cattle. One Manyatta has multiple families and a communal space for cattle keeping. Get ready to do any of the following activities Storytelling, Milking, Blood collecting, Goat roast, Fire making, Blood roasting, Restling, and Animal grazing
