4 Days Mount Meru Hiking

4 Days Mount Meru hiking takes you to the fifth highest peak in Africa in Tanzania with a height of 4,562 m, and offers magnificent views of Mount Kilimanjaro on a clear day. This mountain is just 70 km away west of Mount Kilimanjaro.

The 4 Days Mount Meru hiking trail will start from Momella Gate in Arusha National Park and travelers will discover the most amazing plant and animal species of the region. The first 2 days of hiking Mt. Meru will be spend trailing through the beautiful Ngarenanyuki River as you head towards Miriakamba Hut (2500m) and Saddle Hut (3500m).

We will attempt to reach the summit on the third day, and later ascend gradually. You will cross the Rhino Point (3800m) and Cobra Point (4350m) before getting to the summit of Mount Meru. The top of the mount offers unobstructed views of Mount Kilimanjaro and the Ash Tray of Mt. Meru. Take as many photos as possible before trekking to Miriakamba Hut for overnight stay. We will descend from Miriakamba Hut after breakfast to Arusha to end the magical 4 Days Mount Meru hiking in Tanzania.

Day 1: Arusha-Momela-Mariakamba Hut

Meet your mountain guide at your Hotel in Arusha at 9.30am, drive to Mt. Meru Park gate (Momela), “about one hour driving” where you will meet with our game ranger guide and porters. Hike for 4 hours with picnic lunch to Mariakamba Hut at 8,500 ft. Dinner and overnight at Miriakamba hut.

Duration: 5-7 hours hiking

Day 2: Miriakamba to Suddle Hut

After breakfast hike 4/5 hours with your picnic lunch to Saddle Hut 11,500 ft, picnic lunch on the way. From here the clients can hike 2 hours to little Mount Meru for a scenic view of the ‘Roof of Africa’, Mount Kilimanjaro. Dinner and overnight at Saddle Hut.

Duration: 3-5 hours of hiking

Day 3: Suddle to Mt Meru Summit-Momela -Arusha

Have a cup of coffee at 1.00am, and start hike 4.30 hours all the way to the Mount Meru summit, arrive summit at 5.30 waiting sunrise. From the summit, descend back to the Saddle hut 11,500ft for lunch. After lunch descend to the Miriakamba Hut for dinner and overnight.

Duration: 10-12 hours of hiking

Day 4: Miriakamba-Momela gate

After breakfast proceed with your morning trekking to Momella gate with lunch en route you have two routes as option. Route one is a straight descend to Momella gate same way as you went up -3hrs. Route two is a scenic route through the Meru crater down the montage forest ending up at Momella gate -6hrs. You will be transferred from Momella gate to your hotel, expected to be at hotel around 4pm.
