Day 1: Birding Entebbe botanical garden

Meet and greet our company guide for briefing and later start your journey to Entebbe botanical garden for bird watching. Day 2: Birding in Mabamba Wetlands

Have an early morning cup of coffee and later drive to Mabamba swamps for spot the rare shoebill stork and other birds. On this day of your birding tour in Mabamba, you will use a motorized traditional canoe to look for the Shoebill wading through the overgrown papyrus.

Expect to see a number of water birds including the migratory bird species from Europe. Besides a shoebill stork; you will see other species like; Angola Swallow, Swamp Flycatcher, Grey-rumped Swallow, Olive bellied Sunbird, Malachite Kingfisher, Blue breasted Bee-eater,  African Fish Eagle, Grosbeak weaver, Long tailed Cormorant, Yellow billed Duck, African Jacana, Glossy Ibis, White-winged Tern, Hamerkop, Spur-winged Lapwing, Black-winged Stilt, Red-billed fire finch, Yellow-rumped Tinkerbird, Sooty Chat, Great Cormorant, White-faced Whistling-Duck, Spur-winged Goose, Knob-billed Duck, Little Stint, Grey-headed Gull, Madagascar Bee-eater, Weyns’s weaver, Crowned Horn bill, African Pied, Common Squacco Heron among others. Return to your booked lodge for dinner and overnight stay at Via Via Hotel

Day 3: Lake Mburo Birding Watching

Walk up in the morning to continue with your 5 Days Budget Bird Watching Tour in Uganda with a drive to lake Mburo national park. You will have a stopover at the Equator for water experience and photo moment. Later proceed with your journey to the western region; arriving late afternoon to start your bird watching safari. Some of the bird species you can see in lake mburo national park include; rufous, napped rufous, green wood hoopoe, common scimitar bill, trilling cisticola, crested francolin, brown parrot, temmricks, spot –flanked barbet northern black tit, African wattled plover, black bellied bustard, rufous napped rufous, chested swallow, greater blue eared starling among others. Drive to your accommodation for dinner and overnight stay at Rwakobo Rock (Tents)

Day 4: Full day Birding at Lake Mburo National Park

Have a cup of coffee and head to the park for game drive/ birding safari to spot a number of bird species. The best bird watching spots in Lake Mburo national park are the swampy valleys of Miriti, Warukiri and the roadsides between Rwonyo camp and the jetty. You will spot birds like the Rufous-bellied Heron, Ross’s Turaco, Bare-faced Go-away-bird, Bateleur, Green Wood-hoopoe, Coqui Francolin, Grey Crowned Crane, Yellow-breasted Apalis, Black-bellied Bustard, Brown-chested Lapwing, Red-faced Barbet, Nubian Woodpecker, Brown Parrot, Red-headed Lovebird, Common Scimitarbill, White-headed Barbet, Red-shouldered Cuckoo-shrike, Long-tailed Cisticola, Emerald-spotted Wood-Dove, White-winged Tit and Finfoot among others.

The Rubanga Forest can either be visited by vehicle or on foot and it’s a core birding spot for keen birders to see the rare Red-faced Barbet which can only be seen in Lake Mburo National Park. On this day, you will encounter several wildlife in the park such as zebra, topi, impala, eland, leopard, buffalo, warthog, bush buck, hyena and jackal. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay at Rwakobo rock (Tents)

Day 5: Guided Nature walk – Return to Kampala

Wake up and head to the park for guide nature walk and birding experiences in Lake Mburo national park to see some of the birds that you might have missed for the past days. Later, drive back to Kampala or Entebbe international airport to end your 5 Days Budget Bird Watching Tour in Uganda.
