6 Days Kenya birding safari takes you to the best bird watching destinations in Kenya including Nairobi National Park, Manguo Swamp, Gatamaiyu Forest, Lake Elementeita, and Lake Baringo.
You will explore Kenya Lake System in the great rift valley which is a natural property of exceptional splendor, comprising of three inter-linked fairly shallow lakes of Lake Bogoria, 10,700 hectares, Lake Nakuru 18,800 hectares, and Lake Elementaita 2,534 hectares.

Meet and greet your birding guide for briefing and later set off for Nairobi National Park for bird watching. The park is among the oldest reserve located only 10km from the Capital City with more than 500 bird species. On this day, you will encounter a number of animals including the Lion, Leopard, Rhino and Buffalo. Besides wildlife, look out for birds in Nairobi national park like; White-faced Whistling Duck, Masaai Ostrich, Helmeted Guineafowl, Levaillant’s Cuckoo, Coqui Francolin, Harlequin Quail, Spur-winged Goose, Pygmy Falcon, Lanner Falcon, Long-crested Eagle, White-backed Vulture, Ruppell’s Vulture, African Green Pigeon, Egyptian Vulture, White-bellied Bustard, Lappet-faced Vulture, Bateleur, Spotted Eagle Owl, Tawny Eagle, Martial Eagle, Crowned Eagle, Kori Bustard, Black-bellied bustard, Hartlaub’s Bustard, African Finfoot, Yellow-throated Sandgrouse, Namaqua Dove, Hartlaub’s Turaco, Jacobin Cuckoo, Great Painted Snipe among others. After taking your breakfast, drive to Manguo Swamp for an exciting birding experience. Manguo swamp is located along Nairobi-Naivasha Road, only 40 minutes from Nairobi city. The wetland is a home to freshwater birds including the localized duck and Maccoa Duck. Maccoa ducks have been listed as ‘near threatened’ by I.U.C.N in recent years.
On the other hand, Gatamaiyu Forest forms part of the larger Kereita which is an extension of the southern-most end indigenous forest of the Aberdares ranges. Gatamaiyu Forest is a true paradise and an ideal urban birding & hiking destination to spot Afro-tropical highland bird species.
Today you will look out for the following bird species in Gatamaiyu Forest; Hunter’s Cisticola, Chestnut-throated Apalis, White-bellied Tit, Rufous-breasted Sparrowhawk, Silvery cheeked Hornbill, Fine-banded Woodpecker, Tambourine Dove, Hartlaub’s Turaco, Abbott’s Starling among others. You may also spot some primates like Colobus and Sykes’s Monkeys. Dinner and overnight at your booked lodge.

Have breakfast and head to Lake Elementeita which is also spelled as Lake Elementaita / Lake Elmenteita for a birding safari. The word Elementeita is derived from the Maasai word muteita which means “dust place”.
The lake is also recognized as an Important Bird Area and a home to both Greater and Lesser Flamingo. Over 4 million Lesser Flamingos travel between the three lakes of; Elementeita, Nakuru, and Bogoria. The lake also hosts significant populations of over 100 species of Palearctic migratory birds.
