The birdlife in Uganda is good throughout the year however, the best time to book 7 days birding and wildlife tour in Uganda is from June and July which has the least rain; while March and April receive the highest amount of rainfall. The heavy rains at times results into delays due to impassable roads and slippery hiking trails which may limit your bird watching time. Day 1: Arrival

Meet and greet our company representative and your birding guide. Drive to your booked hotel for briefing and relaxation. Depending on your time of arrival, you may drive to Entebbe botanical gardens and other areas around lake Victoria for birding tour in search for bird species like;  Blue Monarch, Diederik’s Cuckoo, blue-breasted bee-eater, African Pied hornbill, Brown Twin Spots, Moustached Warbler, Fain tailed Widow bird, White headed Barbets, Black headed Gonolek, Red Chested sun bird, Striped Kingfisher, Black Bishop, among others. Return to your hotel for dinner and overnight at Via Via Hotel.

Day 2: Bird Mpanga Forest – Lake Mburo National Park- Night Game Drive

Have breakfast and drive to Mpanga Forest which is located about 37 kilometers west of Kampala along the Masaka / Kampala road for forest birding opportunities. The Mpanga forest is endowed with impressive tree species and birds like; African Harrier hawk, Black goshawk, Narina trogon, Western Nictor, crowned hornbill, African Emerald cuckoo, Great blue Turaco, Hadada ibis, African pied hornbill, Grey parrot, Green Hylia, lizard buzzard, long tailed cormorant, cattle egret, black kite, black headed heron, purple heron, Egyptian goose, yellow bill and African palm swift. Later continue with your journey to western Uganda with a stopover at the Equator for lunch and water experience; arriving in the evening at Lake Mburo national park. Check in your booked lodge and go for a night game drive in search for leopards and other wildlife. Dinner and overnight stay at Rwakobo Rock.

Day 3: Bird Lake Mburo – Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park

Wake up early morning and head to the park for game drive/ bird watching in Lake Mburo national park to look for birds like Rufous-bellied Heron, Red-faced Barbet, Grey Crowned Crane, Bateleur, White-headed Barbet, Coqui Francolin, Black-bellied Bustard, Brown-chested Lapwing, Emerald-spotted Wood-Dove, Brown Parrot, Red-headed Lovebird, Ross’s Turaco, Yellow-breasted Apalis, Bare-faced Go-away-bird, Common Scimitarbill, Nubian Woodpecker, Red-shouldered Cuckoo-shrike, Long-tailed Cisticola, Green Wood-hoopoe, White-winged Tit and Finfoot among others. Lake Mburo national park is a home to 68 mammal species including impala, which, in Uganda, only lives in Lake Mburo, Burchell’s zebra and eland. After retire and go for lunch before driving to Queen Elizabeth national park for another exciting birding trip in Uganda. Dinner and overnight stay at Elephant Hab Lodge.

Day 4: Full day birding in Queen Elizabeth National Park

Have an early morning breakfast and drive to Queen Elizabeth national park for a morning game drive / birding tour to explore the best birding areas of Maragambo Forest, Katwe area, Katuguru bridge area, Lake Kikorongo area, Kasenyi plains and the Mweya Peninsular to see birds like; African fin foot, knob billed duck, yellow bill, black coucal, blue shouldered Robin chat, African mustached warbler, grey headed kingfisher, grey backed fiscal, barbets, African emerald cuckoo, little bee eater, brown illadopsis, lesser swamp warbler, swamp nightjar, white winged warbler, white breasted nigro-finch, chestnut wattle eye, flapet lark, saddle billed stork, marsh tchagra, Sulphur breasted bush shrike and black bishop, papyrus gonolek, white winged tern, pied kingfisher, malachite kingfisher, ripeols griffon vulture, greater swamp warbler, African jacana, yellow wagtail, sacred ibis, black crake, shoebill, black belied bustard, white tailed lark, palm but culture, long created eagle, croaking cisticola, hooded vulture, white backed vulture, brown backed scrub Robin, red-throated wryneck, sitting cisticola, Swift’s, swallows, Martins, Nubian woodpecker, swamp fly catcher. On this day; you will take a boat cruise on the Kazinga channel to see more birds like Water Dikkops, Great white and Pink-Backed Pelicans, Great and Long-tailed Cormorants, among others. Return to your booked hotel for dinner and overnight stay at Elephant Hab Lodge.

Day 5: Bird Kyambura Gorge – Transfer To Bigodi

Have breakfast and later go bird watching in Kyambura gorge to see birds like; African Finfoot, blue headed bee-eater, white tailed lark, Martial Eagle, Bar-tailed Godwit, African skimmer, lesser and greater flamingoes, Black-rumped Buttonquail, Chapin’s flycatcher, papyrus gonolek, corncrake, pink backed pelican, white-winged warbler, verreaux’s eagle owl, black bee-eater, African broadbill, papyrus canary, white-winged warbler among other. On a lucky day, you may encounter several primates including the chimpanzees, red tailed monkeys, black and white colobus monkeys, vervet monkeys and olive baboons. Later drive to Kibale forest national park, check in your booked lodge, relax and head to Bigodi swamp for an evening walk in search for birds like Green breasted Pitta, spotted barbet, Flycatchers, Brown chested Alethe,crowned eagle, the African Pitta, White spotted fluff tail, western nictor, Abyssinian ground thrush, Blue breasted kingfisher, Collared Apalis among others. Dinner and overnight stay at Isunga lodge.

Day 6: Full day Birding Kibale Forest national park

Wake up early morning and head to Kibale forest national park to look for birds like; African Pitta, Green-breasted Pitta, Afep Pigeon, Dusky Crimsonwing, White-naped Pigeon, Blue-breasted Kingfisher, Brown Illadopsis, Crowned Eagle, Red-chested Owlet, Black Bee-eater, Red-faced Woodland Warbler, Western Nicator, Yellow-rumped Tinkerbird, Little Greenbul, Brown-chested Alethe, Blue-headed Sunbird African Grey Parrot, Scaly-breasted Illadopsis, Black-capped Apalis, Collared Apalis, Purple-breasted Sunbird, Yellow Spotted Nicator, Little Green Bul, Black-eared Ground Thrush and the Abyssinian Ground-thrush. During your safari to Kibale, you may spot several primates of the forest including the chimps, grey-cheeked mangabey, the black-and-white colobus, red-tailed and blue monkeys, olive baboon, bush baby and potto. Dinner and overnight at Isunga Lodge.

Day 7: Bird Sebitoli – Transfer to Entebbe.

After breakfast, drive to Sebitoli for bird watching in search for birds like Red-chested Cuckoo, Black-faced Rufous Warbler, Great blue Turaco, Grey-headed Sunbird, Lizard Buzzard, Joyful Greenbul, Whinchat, Stonechat, Masked Apalis, Many coloured Bush-shrikes among other birds. Later drive back to Entebbe international airport to end your 7 Days Birding and Wildlife Tour in Uganda.
