Day 1: Drive from Kigali to Virunga national park.

Meet our guide from Kigali international airport and start your journey to Virunga national park with a short tour to Kigali to visit several historical and cultural sites including Rwanda genocide memorial center, local markets among others. All this depends on your arrival time.

After your tour, you will head to Virunga national park through Goma boarder via Gisenyi from Rwanda. You will spend a few minutes at the boarder while clearing with immigration authorities of Democratic republic of Congo and later drive to the park for mountain gorilla trekking the following day. Dinner and overnight at your booked lodge.

Day 2: Virunga mountain gorilla trekking and community walk.

Have an early morning breakfast and head to the park headquarters for briefing about the dos and don’ts of Virunga gorilla trekking tour and gorilla family allocations. Later start your trail into the deep jungles of the forest with the help of a professional ranger in search for mountain gorillas in their natural habitat. Trackers are always recommended to be fit as the activity takes 2-6hrs of tracking depending on the movement of the gorillas. Upon meeting the gentle primates of the forest, you will be allowed to spend one hour with them; observe how the live with the group members, play and swing in the forest. Later return to the starting point and drive back to the lodge for lunch, relax and later go for a community tour and also visit Senkwekwe gorilla orphanage in Mikeno sector. Dinner and overnight at your booked lodge.

Day 3: Transfer to Kahuzi-Biega national park.

Have breakfast, head to Kahuzi-Biega national park which is a home to mount Kahuzi and mount Biega volcanoes. The park is well known for being a home to habituated low land gorillas however, you can also hike the volcanoes, go camping and forest walk experiences. Upon arrival, you may relax at the lodge or take a tour to Bukavu town. Dinner and overnight stay at your booked lodge.

Day 4: Lowland gorilla trekking in Kahuzi-Biega national park

After breakfast, head to the park headquarters for yet another exciting lowland gorilla trekking activity in Kahuzi Biega national park. You will receive a detailed briefing and later put in a group of 8 trackers before heading into the forest in search for the gorillas in the jungle. This tour takes 2-5hours depending on the movement of the gorillas; therefore, we recommend guests to be physically fit when taking this challenge. After meeting the gorillas, watch them play, feed and relax in the trees. Return to meet your guide and transfer to your booked lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 5: Transfer to Kigali international airport.
