Bird watching in Mabira Forest Reserve is one of the best birding areas near Kampala, Mabira Forest Reserve is a home to over 300 bird species, birders have recorded over 50 species in a single day. The following bird species can be recorded Black & white casqued hornbill, African pied Hornbill, African paradise flycatcher, Red bellied flycatcher, Jameson’s wattle eye, Great blue Turaco, Tit Hylia, olive bellied sunbird, Grey headed sunbird, dwarf kingfisher, stripped kingfisher, Blue breasted kingfisher, shinning blue kingfisher, Nahan’s francolin, Green tailed bristle bill, purple throated cuckoo shrike and many other birds can be seen.

with over 68 km of well-developed trail length, mabira’s dense rain forest with developed foot trails and abundant primate population has make the forest a beautiful walking area for adventures, some primates include red tailed monkey, black and white Colobus monkey, grey cheeked Mangabeys.
With mountain bikes available for hire one can ride through the forest edge trails with the beautiful views of the forest, this is a highly recommended activity in Mabira Forest Reserve.
